Fashion From My Perspective: Seapunk

Hello everyone,

Sorry it took so long, but here's my new Fashion From My Perspective post about Seapunk.

Source
Seapunk is a very new subculture, that origined from social network sites like Twitter and Tumblr. The subculture is still wearing training wheels, but it's already starting to gather speed. For the music, Seapunk is a funky, bass and juke like genre that uses samples from video games and other sea like movies, music, etc. Fire For Effect is a Los Angeles based Seapunk producer and loves the sound of liquid, tranquil, and ocean sounds. Another example of Seapunk music is Unicorn Kid, you can listen to one of his tracks below. It's hard to say what the first splash was; it could have been the Tropicult EP Zombelle released with fellow swimmer Myrrh Ka Ba in July. It might be the frequent postings about aquatic lifestyles that Lil' Wayne did a while back. Or maybe it's just fun to create music like this. It's very difficult to describe what Seapunk exactly is, because it's at that perfect level where the sound is still undefined, but immediately recognizable.

What's so special about Seapunk is that, with the very little Seapunk music availlable due to the extremely short time span it's been around for, people began to post stuff on Tumblr and Twitter that defined the sound of Seapunk. Think a mix of aqua colours like turqoise,  plus bubbles, yin yangs and dolphines. Like the music, I find it hard to descibe the Seapunk fashion. Here are some pictures:

As you can see, the fashion matches the aqua-like vibe Seapunk has, and I think that aqua-vibe is the main thing that describes the fashion. I can't really tell what kind of clothes you should buy if you are looking for a Seapunk look, just take your inspiration from the images in this post and other Seapunk pictures on the internet, and dye your hair turqoise or blue if your parents allow you to. I hope that you've learned more about Seapunk from this post, and I really hope the subculure will continue to grow and become more defined, and maybe even mainstream. That would be pretty cool.

New Muse Album To Be 'Radically Diffrent'

In a recent interview with NME, Chris Wolstenholme hinted at a new direction for the band's 6th LP: 'It feels like it's time to do something radically different on our next album'

NME: "Muse's Chris Wolstenholme has said that the band want to do something "radically different" on their next album.

With the band currently working on the follow-up to their 2009 album 'The Resistance', the bassist told Kerrang! magazine that it felt like they were "drawing a line" under their past and were eager to embrace new ideas.

He said: [The band] feel like we are drawing a line under a certain period of what we've done in our career. It feels like it's time to move on and do something radically different.
However, he also admitted that it wasn't always easy to progress and push their sound forward, adding: "But then you could get into the studio and go back to what you're comfortable with. You get in the studio and there's a natural process and you have to see where a song will take you."

Muse's new LP will be their sixth studio album and is due to be released in late 2012. The band have not given any details on who will be acting as producer for the record as yet."

I'm so excited! How about you?

To All Killjoys Out There

Hello everyone,

As you probably know, I am a HUGE My Chemical Romance fan. Yesterday I checked the official MCR website, www.mychemicalromance.com, and found this:

"Hello Vendettas and KILLJOYS EVERYWHERE! Please re-post this and re-word however you like. In honor of KILLJOYS EVERYWHERE who have fallen to bullying and cruelty this coming Monday, December 21th is officially KILLJOY MONDAY, please wear a MCR shirt or your Killjoy gear and write 'Stop The Hate' anywhere on yourself, hand, arm, neck, etc and take a picture! This coming Monday is my Birthday, and I can think of NO BETTER WAY to celebrate it with my fellow Killjoys/MCRmy than for all of us to STAND UP AGAINST bullying, so do it for the world, and make my Birthday wishes come true in the process! Feel free to send the picture to Viva Vengeance at julie4000@msn.com."

So, dear followers and readers of my blog, I all ask you to wear your MCR shirt, or your Killjoy gear and write 'Stop The Hate' somewhere on yourself tomorrow, and stand up against bullying. Even if you're not a MCR fan, you can at least write 'Stop The Hate' on yourself somewhere. Please, as Viva Vengeance said, do it for the world. And, if you also have a blog, or Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Hyves, MySpace, anything, please spread the word!

Concert Review: Tim Knol @ Biebelot, 25/11/2011

Tim Knol and band
Last Friday I went to a concert from Tim Knol in Biebelot (that's in Dordrecht). Here is my review, this time with some pictures too.

I went to this gig mith my Mum and my little sister. We arrived when the support act, Gerhardt, had been playing for a while already (we had to come to school for something, nevermind) so I don't actually know how they played. From what I've seen and heard I can say that however it sounded very good, it just wasn't really my taste. But as I said, I only heard four or five songs so I don't really know.

Gerhardt
For some reason, building up the stage for Tim Knol and his band only took about 15 minutes, which is the fastest I've seen so far. Maybe because Gerhardt were two guys with guitars, and the stuff Tim Knol and his band needed where already on stage or something. At least we didn't have to wait too long.

When Tim Knol and his band (okay I'll just introduce his band so I don't have to say 'and his band' all the time: Tim Knol: vocals, guitar - Matthijs van Duijvenbode: keys, vocals, percussion - Jeroen Overman: bass, vocals - Kees Schaper: drums, vocals, percussion - Anne Soldaat: guitar, vocals) stepped on stage, the crowd started screaming and shouting like hell (Biebelot isn't very big, but it sounded like we were in Wembley or something) and you felt everyone was exited. Throughout the concert everyone was dancing, singing, and people who couldn't sing were shouting, there was just this relaxed vibe the whole time. The band played some songs from their first album that all sounded familiar to me, altrough there where only three songs that I can actually sing along (Sam, this song that just goes like 'In this shallow water, we can't drown' but I don't know the name of the song, and When I Got Here). Tim Knol's second album is Days, but I don't actually know any songs from the new album yet. They sounded really good though.

Another picture of Tim and band
There where some funny moments, like when Tim Knol asked some guy in the audience if he had been to one if his shows in Germany and some guy in the back goes like 'COME ON TIM, GO ON!' and Tim Knol just goes like 'Hold on, I'm just having a conversation with this guy over here!' or when Tim Knol told that their drummer, Kees Schaper, once really had to go to the bathroom in the middle of a gig and just walked away, and I guess the same guy shouted 'Come on Kees, you can go now! We don't mind, just hurry up' or at least something like that. And of course everyone just randomly shouted 'Tim Tim Tim Knol Knol Knol Tim Tim Tim Knol Knol Knol' every now and then.

I am very bad at remembering setlists, but I do remember that Sam was the last song they played, and the whole crowd just sang along and this guy in front of us started danging really weird, it was fun.

This is actually my wall
When the gig ended we walked to the merchandise stand as quickly as possible because Tim was going to sign posters. It was really funny because my sister and I were one of the first people in line and two girls in from of us wanted to take a picture and Tim tells my sister and I 'Hold on. Just one more picture and I'll be with you' and we were just like 'Yeah, fine.'. Tim looked a bit stressed. It was really funny because my hands got really shakey when he signed my poster and I wanted to say someting like 'cool, thanks dude' but the only thing I could actually say was 'Thank you'.

Close-up

I don't actually have anything to say anymore. All pictures in this post are made by my Mum, except for the pictures of my poster and shirt, those are made by me. Hope you liked my review!

New date for the Black Veil Brides concert in the Melkweg, A'dam

Hi everyone,

I just got an e-mail from the Melkweg. The new date is March 23rd, 2012.
It's very far away form now, but I'm happy they haven't cancelled the gig completely though.
On the other side, I have enough time to buy myself a BVB t-shirt now.

I HAVE INTERNET AGAIN

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since my last post, but from today on my blog will be more active again because my computer has internet again! So I won't have to use my Dad's computer anymore.
Just some quick updates of the past few weeks:

- The BVB concert I was going to got cancelled because Andy Sixx got injured during an other show.
- I -again- ordered some stuff from fantasmagoria.com, I'll make a post about it later
- Ages ago I said this blog was going to get a make-over. I think that's going to happen very, very soon now.

So, how are my followers and readers doing? Any ideas for future posts?

Upcoming Gig: Black Veil Brides @ Melkweg, Amsterdam

Hello guys,

That's right. I'm going to see BVB next week! I am soooo exited. My little sister and my Mum are also going. I'm probably going to ask a friend of mine to come too because we have one extra ticket. My Dad wanted to go with us, until he heard Black Veil Brides was screamo and metal. Now he keeps talking about 'that heavy metal concert' and we just ignore him.

I have one question. Is there a specific dress code for BVB concerts? I also don't have a BVB bandshirt. What bandshirts can I wear to the gig? I have bandshirts form Green Day, Muse, Metallica, My Chemcial Romance and Nightwish. And one from the Jonas Brothers but... er.... Pretend like I didn't just said that.

Review: Hangover Hero + My Own Army @ Baroeg, 07/10/2011

It's a while ago, but on October 7th I went to a Hangover Hero concert, with My Own Army as support act. This is my review, finally.

My Dad, Mom, little sister and I arrived at Baroeg about one hour before the show. We where quite late -usually when we go to a concert we are in the queue two or three hours before the show- but there weren't much people yet. Ten or fifteen maybe, including us.

Baroeg is a very small venue, with a small bar-like part and a part where the bands play. It is really cute through.
When the doors opened we stayed in the bar-part (I don't know how to call it otherwise) for a while before we walked into the actual part where the band played (don't know another name for this either). Hangover Hero's support act was My Own Army, a band we had never heard of before. People were putting instruments on the stage and stuff (later it turned out to be My Own Army themselves) and we just stood there and waited.

This is My Own Army
Source: Google
My Own Army is awesome! My siter and I both liked their music alot as soon as they started playing. It's a Dutch band, and Dutch bands are usually weird and ugly, but these guys are epic. The song I liked the most was 'Secondhand Mother'. At some point My Own Army played some song from Pink Floyd (How do you even spell that? And nope, I don't know the name of the song). We didn't know it was Pink Floyd until my Dad told us afterwards. But, well, anyways, my sister and I stood at the front and suddenly the singer jumped of the stage right next to us (like, we could have hugged him if we wanted to) and my sister and I where like 'wtf' at first but then we just watched him headbanging and stuff and we went like 'zomg zomg zomg'. I think he found us funny. Then all of a sudden he held his microphone in front of my sisters face and expected her to sing along but we didn't know the lyrics so we just giggled and stepped back. He laughed really hard so I don't think he really cared.
After the show, my Mum brought their CD (they called it an EP, I don't get the diffrence but ok) for 5 euros and got the autographs of all four band members because my sister and I didn't dare to ask (thanks Mum!).
It was really cool. My Own Army rocks.

Then we waited for Hangover Hero. And this old guy wearing a bandshirt from Quarterpast, an album from Mayan I have on my iTunes (lol) started talking to us and we drank a glass of coke. And my sister stole My Own Army's setlist and hanged it on her wall.

Hangover Hero is also awesome! They have this really cool and unique sound. They reminded me of the Foo Fighters a bit. There are no proper pictures of Hangover Hero on Google so sorry, no Hangover Hero pic this time.
Hangover Hero is an unknown band, but it was really great to see dedicated fans singing along all songs and for one moment being the happiest persons alive. Really special.

At the end of the concert we just went home and went to bed immediately. I was soooo tired.

Hangover hero is great. It'd be great to see them live again, and I also want to see My Own Army again.
I hope this review was interesting

Internet Problems

I'm writing this on my dad's computer so I'm keeping it short.
My computer has no internet. It's weird, but it just doens't work anymore, all of a sudden. So I can't do anything. Only on my dad's computer. This is the first time I've been online in, well it feels like a week.
As soon as possible, I'm going to write a review from a concert I've been to last Friday, and I have another concert coming up in two weeks, where I'm also going to write about soon.
My dad says he doesn't know how to fix the problem, so I have no idea when I'll have internet again.
Sorry to keep you guys waiting,

My Hairdye Adventure Continues

Hello everyone!

I dyed my hair last weekend. In this new My Hairdye Adventure post I'm going to tell you all about it.

My original plan was to bleach my hair to a caramel-ish colour, and then dye it temporary red. I would then bleach my haur again after two or three weeks to a light blonde and then dye it dark blue. Well, it didn't go as planned. But it does mostly of the time. I didn't expect it to go this bad, though.

Together with a friend, I brought two jars of Directions hairdye in the colour 'Vermillion Red' which, on the sample, is a nice dark red, but not too dark, just a nice and warm wine red colour. It cost me about €14 euros, very cheap.
We also brought a container of dye-remover from Garnier (of however you spell it) for 13,99 euros, which I found rather expensive.

This is awesome
Source
That evening, my mum put the dye-remover in my hair. The people in the shop had already warned my I had do get this done by a professional, but the last time I bleached my hair (you can read that adventure here, but the post is in Dutch) it worked out very well and I had a nice, light blonde colour in the end.
For one moment, I hesitated about buying one or two containers, but the container was pretty big so my friend and I figured it would be enough for my hair (I have very thick hair).

But, after my mom put it in and left it in for the maximum amount of time, it looked HORRIBLE. The part where the blach had grown out was almost white, the upper part of my hair was light brown, underneath it was blonde and the tips where still black.
So, the next day I went to my hairdresser and she fixed it for me. It took a long time, about three hours, because first she had do pre-pigment my hair red (I don't know it pre-pigmenting is a word, but it's how she called it and I've never heard of it before, either) because it would become green otherwise (green is a nice colour, but not the colour I was looking for) and after the pre-pigmenting she dyed my hair two shades lighter than black, so basically a very dark brown. She also wanted to give me highlights, but that would cost me €70 euros and that was a bit out of budget for me.

I still have the red hairdye and I think it will give my hair a nice, reddish shine, but before I dye my hair I'll do a strand test first, who knows what colour my hair could turn in this time.

It's sad it didn't work out the way I hoped, but I like my hair now. I might get the highlights later, but I want my hair to become nice and shiny again first.

So: Watch out with that dye-remover!

You'll hear form me soon

New Hairdye Adventure coming up!

Hello everyone!

I have black hair for about 8 months now and it's getting quite boring. In the summer holiday I decided to go for a new colour: Blue!
No, not some bright/rainbow/unicorn blue colour, but a nice, dark blue. I've wanted to try dark blue hair since I was about eight. I'm 14 now so it's about time...
My hair is black now, so in order to get the colour I want I'll have to lighten it first. Which basicly means bleaching the hell out of it. I don't want to overbleach my hair, so I'm going to bleach it in two steps. My hair has already faded out to a dark brown (with a one inch outgrow, my hair grows fast) so I'll bleach it to a caramel-ish colour the first time and dye it either purple or red, wait two to four weeks, then bleach it until it's blonde (not white, that'll kill your hair) and then dye it blue. It'll cost me some time (and money) but I've wanted to have blue hair for such a long time now that I'm just gonna do it. And if it's ugly, I'll just dye it black again :)

(if you want to see what the colour hopefully looks like, click here)

So, very soon, you can expect a new Hairdye Adventure!

Cheers,
Gasoline Diamond

My New Hoodie :D

Hi everyone!

Remember I made a post about my new clothes from Large.nl a while ago? I also ordered a hoodie that wasn't in stock, so it arrived yesterday.

Just look! Isn't this the cutest hoodie you've ever seen? I think it's a dino, and a friend of mine too. My other friends think it's a dragon, so they now call me dino-dragon or dragon-dino. Yeah, I love new nicknames.
Anyways, the hoodie is made from fleece (I guess, anyway. I don't know if it's called fleece in English too, but it sounds like an English word so... Er... Nevermind) so it's really warm. Everyone loves it, some of my friends want it too (even through they're guys) and even people who I usually never speak with came up to me and told me I looked cool.
My parents and little sister like it too. My mum wasn't looking to happy when I told her I was going to wear it without a jacket on my way too school so everyone could see it, but, yeah, that's my mum.
The hoodie costs €49,99 which is expensive, but totally worth the money. I ordered it from www.large.nl (the Dutch version of emp-online.com).

Cheers!  (I love that word)

9/11: 10 Years Later

Hello,

Today, on the 11th of September 2011, it's exactly ten years ago that two airplanes flew into the towers of The World Trade Center in New York. Everyone knows what happened that day so there's no need to explain that, but the world can still feel the aftermath of this terroristic attack to this day. So many lives, so many people, with each their own story...
If anyone who reads this knew someone who died that day, or if you where there yourself: I'm so sorry for you.

I must have been like, 4 or 5 when it happened. I saw it on the evening news, my parents told me to close my eyes so I wouldn't see what happened. I could still hear it though. The next day my teacher at the time told us what happened and about Osama Bin Laden. All kids were scared to death that he would come to our school and kill us all.

I've watched some documentaries about 9/11 the past few weeks, but I still find it hard to look at them. Today, we are going to keep a two-minute silence throughout the country, and maybe the rest of the world does that too, I don't know. Are you going to do anything special?

Hey everyone,

Mikey Way turned 31 yesterday. I'm a bit late with this, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKEY! Okay guys, when Gerard celebrated this birthday, I asked you to sing 'Happy Birthday' out loud for him. Let's do that again for Mikey Fuckin' Way!

I haven't heard of any special stuff organised by fans, but Cassie The Venomous asked all her followers to sing Happy Birthday during the first pause between songs for Mikey. I'm curious if that worked out :D When I went to see MCR in 013, some girl asked everyone to yell 'We love Justin Bieber' but no-one did that in the end, haha

Some New Clothes

Hello everyone,

As you probably already figured out, me likes shopping online alot. This time, I ordered some stuff from Large.nl  (the international site is emp-online.com) and I like them alot.

Let's start with my Nightwish t-shirt. I think Nightwish is an amazing band an I absolutely LOVE their music, so I just needed one. It's 'girly fit' and costs €19,99 which isn't much for a bandshirt like this. Apart form the beautiful design on the front, it also has some kind of heart with wings on the back. I wore it yesterday and it fits me perfectly. Not too tight, not too loose. Perfect. I love it.

This here is my new top. I wear bandshirts all the time so I barely have any tops, but I thought my wardrobe could use a bit more elegance. I love everything about this top. I'm wearing it right now. The sleeves appear to be the same colour as the ribbon on the picture, but in real they are more dark-reddish, because of the lace. The ribbon and the little cross are absolutely adorable.
The brand is Queen Of Darkness and it costs €29,99 which is a little pricey, but definately worth the money. I thing I'm going to buy more simliar tops from this brand.

And this is the final item from my order: a longsleeve from Spiral. I wore it yesterday and it's just amazing. It looks a little weird on the picture, but the openings in the sleeves look wonderful in real life. It costs only €19,99 so for that price it's worth a try. The print is beautiful, I keep discovering new things. It is an off-shoulder top, and it also is kinda roomy so if you want a tighter fit, you might want to order one size smaller that usual. The fabric feels like it's from good quality, and I hope the print won't come off after washing it a few times.

I'm very happy with my new stuff (: This was all I ordered, except for an hoodie that wasn't in stock. The shipping was incredibly fast, I ordered this about a week ago and it arrived yesterday.

Bye!

My Apologies

Hello,

Sorry for my lack of new posts lately. School has started three weeks ago and my timetable sucks. I start early and get home late, and it makes me so tired the only thing I can do is crash on the sofa and watch TV, eat dinner and do my homework, and then go to bed. I'm exhausted.
My grandma past away this wednesday morning, around 9 AM. She was one of the most fantastic persons I have ever had the honour to know in my life, and I miss her alot. We all do. Her funeral is tomorrow.
I hope you understand why I haven't posted much the past few weeks. I'm trying to think of some new posts, but I just feel like I'm being very unoriginal. You'll hear from me soon.

Mike Pedicone is gone

Hello everyone!

I'm in shock. Look what I just read on mychemicalromance.com

Hello all,Some shit happened last night and before the blogosphere gets all crazy with false statements and ridiculous opinions we want the true story to come from us... But please listen close because this is the only time we are ever going to talk about this. The relationship between My Chemical Romance and Michael Pedicone is over. He was caught red handed stealing from the band and confessed to police after our show last night in Auburn, Washington. We are heartbroken and sick to our stomachs over this entire situation. The band has no intention of pressing charges or taking this matter any further than we have to. We just want him out of our lives. The people who play in this band are a family, and family should not take advantage of each other like he did. We are currently moving forward, and hope to have a new drummer in place for our show in Salt Lake City, Utah. The show must go on.XOMCR

I'm close to crying right now. Mike seemed like a nice guy to me. And then comes this. I don't know what to say right now. I'm in total shock.

Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) Announces New Album

Hello guise!

There have been some rumors lately about MCR making a new album, and it seems thay they now have been confirmed by Gerard Way. This is what I found on the official My Chemical Romance site

Source: Weheartit

"....On a “new album”: I’ve actually been very careful/cagey about this subject. All I’ve admitted to was writing songs, because that’s what a band is supposed to do- write songs you want to play in front of people.
Do I think it’s going to be another 5 years before a new album? No. But I can’t say when it will come- we spent the last 3 years of our lives trying to do that and it wasn’t healthy. The band will do what it always does- search. Into the dark, with just the four of us, and come out with something we’ve discovered. A new art. A new perspective. A new sound.
But I really do appreciate the genuine excitement for whatever we do next- that means a lot. So just a bit of clarification then-
I feel a song coming on…
Xo

Yay! MCR is going to make a new album! And you know what? I don't care how long we'll have to wait for a new album. I mean, we've waited five years for Danger Days to come and they were so fucking worth it. I wouldn't mind if I had to wait another five years, or even ten. I am just very curious so I would probably die of curiousity. What do you think?

Brand New: Muse and MCR at the Reading And Leeds Festival 2011

Hello everyone!

The Reading And Leeds Festival (UK) started yesterday and both Muse and My Chemical Romance have performed there. I've spotted some really cool video's on the internet and I just wanted to show them to you.

Before that, let me remind you that this, for all Musers, is a very special Reading And Leeds Festival. This is the last time Muse will perform songs from their second album Origin Of Symmetry. I don't know if that means that we'll never hear Plug In Baby, Citizen Erased. Bliss and New Born again, but is is a very sad thing.

Anyways, let's move on to the video's.

My Chemical Romance

(song starts at about 2:51)

There are more songs out there, but I've already posted way too much. The setlist:
1 'Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)'
2 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)'
3 'Planetary (Go!)'
4 'The Only Hope For Me Is You'
5 'DESTROYA'
6 'Mama'
7 'Sing'
8 'Vampire Money'
9 'The Kids From Yesterday'
10 'Famous Last Words'
11 'Teenagers'
12 'Dead!'
13 'S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W'
14 'Helena'
15 'We Will Rock You' (with Brian May - Queen)
16 'Welcome To The Black Parade' (with Brian May - Queen)

Awesome Killjoy outfits. James in a Mousekat costume. Mike refused to be dressed up, I guess. But he looks also cool anyway.

My Chemical Romance announce plans to record a new album: read more about it here

Muse

They all look awesome. Don't like Dom's shirt though.

Sorry for the screaming, but come on, this was the best video of the actual openig that I could find.
THE STAGE IS EPIC. OOS FORKS EVERYWHERE.

This video brings back good old memories. Man With The Harmonice + Knights Of Cydonia. I like Chris' bass.

Coolest. Intro. Ever.
