Over Apocalypse Please

Het eerste liedje op de Absolution CD. Opgebouwd uit verschillende lagen instrumenten: Bass, synthesizers en een harde piano.

Het lied is geschreven vanuit "het oogpunt van een persoon die wil dat zijn of haar God komt en alle ellende goedmaakt" of "religieuze extremisten en hun wensen dat hun profeties uitkomen."
Een live-versie van Apocalypse Please, opgenomen tijdens het Glastonbury Festival in 2004, werd uitgebracht als een single in de vorm van een download voor het goede doel, waardoor het de vijfde en voorlaatste single van Absolution werd.

Apocalypse Please was oorspronkelijk opgenomen met backing door een orkest.
Bellamy legt uit waarom deze versie niet op het album verscheen:


"We struggled with Apocalypse Please; it sounded weak with the strings on it, whereas the other songs sounded really good. We knew that we'd have to re-record Apocalypse Please. We then went to work with Rich Costey.

 That one originally was the one which had the big orchestra on it, but we ended up taking it away because it was too much". 

  

Mijn mening:

Van dit soort liedjes wordt ik jaloers op mensen die goed piano kunnen spelen. Het liedje is heel sterk, toen ik het voor het eerst hoorde dacht ik echt meteen 'WOW. I like it.'. De tekst is ook zeer sterk, met een goede  woordkeuze en een awesome refrein.
