My parents like to play music in the car, so I decided to make a HUGE playlist filled with happy summer songs. But the problem is: the music I listen to isn't very 'happy'. But today I found some songs on my computer from the time I was a diehard Jonas Brothers fan - I was, believe it or not - that fit in well with the songs I already found. And, well, here's my awesome summer playlist:
1. We Are Golden - Mika
2. Basket Case - Green Day
3. Planetary (GO!) - My Chemical Romance
4. Daylight - Matt & Kim
5. Free Ride - Edgar Winter Group
6. Song 2 - Blur
7. School's Out - Alice Cooper
8. We Made You - Eminem
9. On Melancholy Hill - Gorillaz
10. Happy Up There - Räyksopp
11. Shrinking Universe - Muse

22. A Punk - Vampire Weekend
23. Wheels - Foo Fighters
24. Story Of My Life - Social Disortion

35. Tremble For My Beloved - Collective Soul
36. Who I Am - Nick Jonas And The Administration
37. Deadbeat Holiday - Green Day
38. Vampire Money - My Chemical Romance
Best summer playlist ever, if I may say so. I know most of you will roll their eyes at some songs - Who I Am, lol - but I really think these are pretty cool songs for the summer. And they bring back good old memories.
I also would like to use this post to say goodbye: I haven't start packing yet and I was supposed to be ready a long time ago. I'll see you again in three weeks. Cheers!
I've ordered some stuff online in the past few weeks, and my last order arrived yesterday. These are the things I brought:
These are the three wristbands I ordered on attitudeholland.com
They arrived about a week ago, and I've worn the first wristband on the picture - the spiked one, in case your eyes are really bad - everyday. At the Metropolis Festival last sunday, I also wore the wristband with the bats on my other arm. I got sunburned really bad, and now I have a stripe on both arms where the wristbands were, haha.
I am very, very happy with these wristbands. The brand, Bullet 69, has many more of them, with more studs, or in diffrent colours or prints such as checks, stars, skulls, piano keys, pretty much everything you can imagine.
The wristbands are made from real leather, so they will
- hopefully - stay nice and beautiful for a very long time.
I have also ordered two lovely items from the awesome Lithuanian site fansasmagoria.eu that arrived 2 days ago
I've ordered a jacket and a pair of bondage pants previously, and I need to say this: the shipping is great. Both my previous order and this one arrived in 7 days, whilst my order from attitudeholland arrived in about 14 days. Pretty strange, because attitudeholland is a Dutch site and I live in the Netherlands, and Lithuania is VERY FAR AWAY. But, anyways, let's get back to my order. I ordered this awesome sweater -which normally is €59,60, but it was on sale for €49,42 until the 30th of June- and this adorable Nightmare Before Christmas bag for €19,20.
The sweater is so cool. It has a tiny grey bat print allover the sweater, it has very long sleeves with lacing and eyelets, and you can simply zip them off if you want to. It also has a cute hood with tiny ears. I've worn it with sleeves yesterday and without today, and both styles create a whole diffrent look, which is handy if you - like me - like to play with diffrent styles. My little sister also loves my sweater, and my parents like it too.
My new Nightmare Before Christmas bag is also epic.
My little sister thinks it's cool, my mom thinks it's cute and my dad thinks it's creepy. I think it's the coolest bag in the universe. Everything I need fits in it - my mobile phone, the card I have to use in the bus/tram/underground (it's called an OV-chipcard here and everyone uses it to check themselves in when they use Publick Transport instead of buying a ticket, but I don't know if other countries have a simliar sistem) the small bag I keep my spare lenses, liquid for my lenses and my glasses in case I lose one in, and my wallet. And the bag is only 24 centimeters in diameter. I love it!
So, these where my orders. I'm sure I'll order new stuff online when I'm back from holiday, and I have to make a post about the presents I got on my 14th birthday (only 9 days left as a thirteen year-old, whoo). I hope you like my orders as much as I do, hehe.

PS: Tomorrow I'm going to pack my stuff, and we'll leave to the Czech Republic at Saturday, 4 a.m. so I really don't know if I'm going to be able to post more. In case I can't: See you in three weeks! You can always read my other post if you get bored or something.
Here's my extra-long Behind The Songs post, as I promised. It's about the Exogenesis: Symphony, which exists out of three songs. Enjoy!
About the Exogenesis: Symphony
"Exogenesis: Symphony" is the last song on The Resistance, and is split into three four-minute tracks, each separately named. It features an orchestra of "about 40 musicians" throughout, being described by Matt as "almost purely classical in style" The song tells the story of humanity leaving a destructive Earth behind to populate elsewhere in the Universe.
Matt later said that "This is influenced by Rachmaninov, Richard Strauss, Chopin and Pink Floyd. It looks at the concept of 'Panspermia.' It is a story of humanity coming to an end and everyone pinning their hopes on a group of astronauts who go out to explore space and spread humanity to another planet."
The term exogenesis is the technical name for panspermia, the hypothesis that life is seeded across the universe from other sources, for example, arriving to Earth on comets, hence "cross pollination".
The song was first mentioned in March 2008 as a "15-minute space-rock solo" and mentioned by the band numerous times after that. Prior to that, it had been alluded to by Matt in 2007 as "a few bits and pieces that we kind of set to one side that were ... a little bit too progressive and symphonic for [Black Holes and Revelations]", suggesting that the band may have first attempted to record it in 2005.
The orchestral parts within the song are arranged by Matthew Bellamy. He stated he wanted to do this himself as he "never wanted to collaborate with a string arranger as they may make it 'theirs'". The orchestra which performed said parts was comprised of twenty-five musicians, who were layered into fifty parts, so as to keep production costs low.
Chris said in an interview the piano parts from the song have been around for quite a while. He mentioned Matt always "plays these beautiful piano pieces that we could never figure out how to work into a Muse song until now."
During the recording session with the orchestra, Chris "felt a bit jaded" and was pretty upset for not being able to see the recording due to being sick at the time.
Dom plays the Timpani in the beginning of Overture.
Matt has wanted but been reluctant to play Part 2 live because of its difficulty.
Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1 (Overture)
The first part of the song starts off mellow.
According to Matt, "Part 1 is a jaded acceptance that civilisation will end." The drum part displays a Massive Attack influence.
Lyrics:
Aping my soul,
You stole my overture,
Trapped in God's program,
Oh I can't escape
Who are we?
Where are we?
When are we?
Why are we?
Who are we?
Where are we?
Why, why, why?
I can't forgive you,
And I can't forget
Who are we?
Where are we?
When are we?
Why are we?
Who are we?
Where are we?
When are we?
Why are we in here?
Exogenesis: Symphony Part 2 (Cross-Pollination)
In the Muse Q&A in November 2008, Dominic Howard stated that the song would change genres throughout, indicating a significantly different middle section.
Matthew Bellamy stated, "Part 2 is a desperate hope that sending astronauts to find and populate other planets will be successful alongside the recognition that this is the last hope."
Lyrics:
Rise above the crowds And wade through toxic clouds Breach the outer sphere The edge of all our fears Rest with you We are counting on you It's up to you Spread our codes to the stars You must rescue us all Spread our codes to the stars You must rescue us all Tell us, tell us your final wish Now we know you can never return Tell us, tell us your final wish We will tell it to the world
Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3 (Redemption)
The track by track review by Gigwise describes that it concludes in a "suitably Muse-like way" and that "the song builds into an emotive and epic chorus where Bellamy and Wolstenholme share vocal duties".
Matt said, "...Part 3 is when the astronauts realize that it is just one big cycle, and recognize unless humanity can change it will happen all over again."
Lyrics:
Let's start over again Why can't we start it over again? Just let us start it over again And we'll be good This time we'll get it... Get it right It's our last chance to forgive ourselves
This was the last Behind The Songs post before my three-week holiday, so I hope this is enough ;) Bye!
I think most of you are enjoying their summer holiday right now. Well, at least I am. And this saturday (the 9th of July, in case you didn't knew) I will be leaving on a 3-week holiday to Czech Republic. I won't be able to post anything in those three weeks, but before I leave I'm planning on making an extra long Behind The Songs post, a summer-proof alternative playlist, a Fashion From My Perspective post -the poll I made wasn't very helpful, Cybergoth, Romantic Goth and Geek Goth all had one vote so I need to figure out which style I'm going to do- and I finally recieved my online orders, so I might make a post about those as well.
I hope I've informed you enough, and I hope you're all enjoying your holiday as much as I am!
